Begun in 1990 in Florida, K-Kids is the youngest and fastest growing service organization for elementary students worldwide. These clubs are ideally suited for students in grades 1 through 5 (ages 6 to 12). K-Kids is a "student-led" community-service organization, which operates under school regulations and draws its members from the student body. In addition to the U.S., there are over 600 K-Kids clubs in Australia, the Bahamas, Barbados, Canada, Italy, Jamaica, Malaysia, Martinique, the Philippines, Trinidad and Tobago.
The Detroit No. 1 Club is sponsoring a K-Kids program at the Fountain of Life Day School and with their after-school program. Past President Beverly Wiggins has worked diligently to develop this program. Pastor Gary T. Hooks, Sr., Angela Hooks and school counselor Mary Kellem assist her. President Wiggins has also implemented the “Bring Up Grades (BUG) program where she is assisted by Antoinette Day, a school counselor.
